Poem is culture....Knowledge is light

Poem is important to know cultures in various society. From poems, then we understand the belief, customs and traditions practised in different society. And I did kearn about Arabs culture from their poems.. I did enjoy it, since I love poems so much...

Here in one more poem that I loved so much from al-Shafi'i.

I complained to Waki about my poor memory;
Give up your sins! was his advice to me;
For knowledge is a light from God;
And the light of God is veiled by your sins!

A Poem Today.....

Dear All.... Long time no see... I'm so busy within these 4 years completing my PhD thesis in poems and Al-Shafi'i's thoughts. Now, I'm doing some corrections on my thesis to make it perfect... Here, some poems from His Diwan, I collected it from brother Usama Hasan.. Thank you very much for him.


The Overtuned Scales

While lions die of hunger in their dens,
Wolves feast on the tender flesh of sheep
While the slave lies on his soft and silken couch
The prince has nowhere but the dust to sleep
